Galactic Cowboys

At the End of the Day

The latest album by Galactic Cowboys, At the End of the Day, is more mellow than any of its predecessors. By "mellow" I mean this album is fairly "alternative" sounding, but it's still a lot more powerful and interesting than most of the stuff on the radio today. Songs like Ants are nothing to write home about, though they do make for great radio fodder. The highlights of the album are the fast-paced and aggressive Nothing to Say, the riff-intensive Just Like Me, the weird and whacky It's Not Over, and the complex, humourous, and historical chronicling of the band's past in The Machine Fish Suite. The latter tune in and of itself makes the album worth getting.
